Almost.
Today I finished inputting all the folder information into the Excel sheet for bulk uploading the collection! I'm so tired. I have over 700 lines of series, sub-series, and folders going in this collection. While I know that's not a lot in comparison to other collections, it is a lot for me, a new baby to the archiving world. I'm excited to get this loaded and onto ArchiveSpace, but I still need to write the scope and contents for everything.
While I'm not sure that I'll finish this within the time UW allots, I'm definitely going to see this project through. I feel a sense of ownership over this collection, and I'm sure that feeling happens to every archivist with whatever they're working on. I am very tired though. It's been 10 weeks of hard work; honestly, I'm feeling a sense of pride knowing that I'll be the one to turn this in and have my name on something that is going to last.
I also attended a presentation given by one of the archivists to a Latin American history class. It made me nostalgic for the teaching when I was at CSULB. I do love the processing work, but occasionally I miss the academic side of libraries. I'm hoping that when I find a job in the field that I do get to do some type of teaching.
