About
Hello and Welcome!
My name is Michaela Bayona, and I am an MLIS student with the University of Washington. I am currently in my second year of the online program, with hopes to graduate in Spring 2025. I took LIS 589: Academic Librarianship in Winter 2024, which only further inspired me to pursue a path in academic libraries, with a goal to work in a university archive or as a subject librarian. I am on track to achieve this goal, which was only further accelerated by the opportunity to do an internship with California State University – Long Beach.

During my internship I have been given the opportunity to participate in multiple aspects of academic librarianship, which has already proven itself to be invaluable. I’ve built professional relationships with several librarians, have been given opportunities to teach library instruction sessions, meet and guide students through their own bibliographic searches, and have further increased my own reference skills for academic libraries.

This website acts as a repository of my experience, and will eventually serve as part of my Portfolio work. Documentation can be found under the “Artifacts” tab, along with my personal reflections of this experience.
While I still have more to learn, I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with CSULB and further pursue my passions.
