Week 7: Link by Link

This week I was able to finish arranging most of the collection! There are a few random bits and ends that still need be refoldered and added into the arrangement. While I hate the idea of a "Miscellaneous" subseries, I can see how that would be a necessary evil when you're pressed for time on a collection.

Regardless of my current feelings towards the collection, I'm really proud of the work I've done. I've made a lot of progress, and next week I get to start working on inputting the information into ArchivesSpace! I'm really excited for this part. I know it's going to take a while, but also, it's very exciting. I feel like a real archivist.

My mentor and I have also been discussing what we're going to do if I can't finish processing the collection in time by the end of the quarter. I'm going to continue working there until this is completed, as I like to see projects through, but I am worried that I may not be able to finish the deliverables I set out to do. There was a lot more that needed to be done to this collection than we thought, but honestly, I'm happy to see this through. Part of me feels some type of ownership and pride, knowing that this is work that I have done and completed. I don't want to be just another name in a long list of people who worked on this collection. I want to be the one who finishes it out.
