Week 6: Holding Space

This week was both frustrating and rewarding at the same time.
Frustrating: there are some large objects that I knew I had to deal with at some point, and I had been putting it off for as long as possible, but now I am at the point where it needs to be dealt with. So rather than giving it the attention it needed right away, I am choosing to spend my time arranging folders and finalizing my series and sub-series.
Rewarding: I MADE IT THROUGH HALF OF THE BOXES DURING THE ARRANGEMENT PROCESS. Labeling takes forever, but the actual organization feels soooooooooo nice! I feel like I've made more strides this week than I have this entire process, solely because I'm not getting angry at all the labeling that needs to be done.
Also, my mentor and I went over Archive Space, the program they use to create finding aids. This was great because now that I'm heading into the last few weeks of this opportunity, I can make progress on that portion as well. I'm quite excited to get into it next week.
Oh, a fun story! There's this patch that I'm having trouble identifying, so I turned to Reddit to try to get opinions. There wasn't an exact answer, but it definitely gave me more resources to look through. I'm not sure what the exact ethics of posting there are, but I figure if I don't use names it should be fine? And even if the information shared isn't totally factual, it still gave me new places to look and resources as I work through this collection.
