Week 3: Trying to Work it Out

Okay! So this week was a shortened week for several reasons. I usually go in two days a week for 8 hours each day, but Martin Luther King Junior Day led me to only go in once this week. The other reason for a short week was due to illness, but I did manage to get some work in.
I finally made it through the four original boxes my supervisor pulled, and have moved on to a fifth box out of twenty. This is going to be a long road. It's interesting to see how many items were put into folders, but the folders were unlabeled? I have questions for the person working on this collection previous to me.
One of the things I'm enjoying the most about this process is the freedom I have. I like being able to have the experience of building my own system. The work is very methodical and soothing, definitely something that I can easily do while listening to a podcast or music. The more I familiarize myself with the items in this collection, the easier it is to see the organizational structure that should be happening here.
At this point, the hardest struggle I'm having is trying to figure out how my future entries are going to differ from each other, as many of my weeks here are going to be spent doing the same process, which can get repetitive, but it's also relaxing. I think I like this road I'm going down.
Also, with everything going on in the world, it's crazy how this collection has come to me at a time where immigrants and children of immigrants are being targeted again. It's rather unfortunate to see history repeating itself in the worst ways, and having it be mirrored in my work life.
